Electric Land and Dais Energy Ventures announce a joint venture platform to develop, build and operate 4GW of battery energy storage projects across Germany by 2030.

Electric Land is Europe’s largest specialist Real Estate investor and developer of Powered land and Dais Energy Ventures is a fully integrated platform specialising in the development and operation of energy storage solutions across Europe.

This strategic partnership will see the two companies collaborate to originate, develop, build and operate 4GWs of battery storage projects at strategic grid nodes, supporting Germany’s transition to a net zero energy system. The first project from the JV’s already well-established pipeline is expected to reach commercial operation in 2026. The JV is growing a local team, headed by Cristina Yandiola formally of Iberdrola (Head of Grid), and Jose Henkle (Head of Development) who joins from EDF Germany.

With Germany targeting the deployment of c.60GWh of battery storage by 2037 to stabilise its renewable-led energy grid, this joint venture will work to support the country’s energy transformation. The projects will contribute to improved grid stability, facilitating renewable generation deployment and enhanced energy security in line with national and European climate goals.

Electric Land and Dais both have proven track records across GB and several years’ operating in European markets. Electric Land specialises in unlocking land value for energy infrastructure through a Powered Land ownership-led model and Dais brings expertise in project development, construction, operation and asset management, making the partnership uniquely positioned for success.

“This joint venture marks a major milestone for Electric Land as we seek to deliver on our already substantial pipeline in Germany, scaling up our investment and operational footprint,” comments Ben Lansman, Managing Director at Electric Land. “Together with DAIS, we’re building a best-in-class local team, creating long-term partnerships with communities and landowners across the country and delivering critical energy storage infrastructure which is vital to the energy transition in Germany. We are very much looking forward to this journey together”

”Dais is proud to be partnering with Electric Land and bringing our Market Driven Development approach to this portfolio and the German market.” said Daniel Connor, CEO at DAIS. “Through our deep market knowledge we ensure projects are strategically located, right-sized and commercially resilient. Working with Electric Land and our amazing local team to deliver these principles will maximise the impact our battery portfolios have on the German energy system.  We are excited to collaborate with local and national grid operators to provide the support German grids desperately need to increase renewable penetration whilst maintaining system security. Electric Land are the perfect partner and so much progress has been made already, watch this space!”

The joint venture is actively progressing development at strategic sites, with a pipeline of projects ranging from smaller distribution connected opportunities through to GWh scale transmission assets. Both companies are committed to meeting the regulatory, technical, and environmental standards required to deliver future-proof energy infrastructure for Germany.
